Knowing a friend has experienced domestic violence and/or sexual violence can be overwhelming. For some, this concept is so foreign that they grapple with how to react, what to say, and what NOT to say. Others know all too well what it means to be the victim and hearing a friend talk about their experience could be triggering. Albion Fellows Bacon Center is here to help!
Domestic and sexual violence not only impacts the person who has experienced it, but those who are part of that victim’s inner circle (friends, family, intimate partner, etc). We recognize that these “secondary victims” can benefit from receiving services. Our crisis counseling program can help secondary victims work through their own feelings surrounding what has happened to a friend, as well as work on tools that will help lend support to the primary victim.
