Albion operates domestic and sexual violence crisis telephone lines staffed by trained advocates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide information, safety planning, referrals and emotional support to callers.

Sexual Violence: 1-812-424-7273
Why?
Support Groups
While every person’s experience is unique, being in a room with people who have had similar experiences can be a powerful form of support and validation. Group provides a safe, confidential forum to speak about the unspeakable and draw comfort from those who understand. The groups are facilitated by trained advocates who specialize in issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault. The focus of the group is on education, skill-building, and creating a supportive, safe community space for survivors.
An advocate will meet with interested individuals prior to attending a group session because for some, support group is not always the best option.
Why?
Community Education & Workshops
Albion’s advocates strive to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence as we work to end the generational cycle of abuse. Public education and professional training are provided free of charge.
Public Education
Advocates provide both informational and educational presentations to community groups like civic organizations, churches, businesses, and schools. Educational presentations can include dynamics of domestic violence, sexual violence, date rape drugs, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, teen dating violence, etc.
Professional Training
Advocates provide professional training to anyone who regularly works with survivors of domestic or sexual violence. This may include law enforcement, medical staff, counseling, and social work professionals, school faculty, clergy members, and your organization’s staff. Training may be tailored to fit your needs and include topics like red flags of abuse, how to handle disclosure, safety planning, legal and medical rights of survivors, protective orders, special populations, etc.
Workshops
Advocates provide community workshops that are designed to inform and educate attendees on matters related to domestic or sexual violence.
Why?
Emergency Shelter
Emergency Shelter is a short-term safe haven for individuals who have experienced sexual or domestic violence. Survivors and their minor children are welcome, and Albion will not discriminate based on age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, etc. Due to the nature of our work and safety of our clients, our address is not provided to the general public.

Children’s Program
A navigator will work with those who enter shelter with children to determine their needs, connect them with resources and provide referrals to help empower families.

Albion’s wishlist
Albion’s wishlist is consistently updated and contains some of our most needed items for our shelter program.
When a client becomes a resident at Albion, they have often made a decision based on a life-threatening incident or safety concerns and may be limited on time to pack a bag or plan.
Through the generosity of our community, our compassion can extend past safe shelter and offer individuals the essentials of life.
Gift cards
Gift cards are a unique and flexible way to give to Albion! We primarily ask for these types of gift cards –Walmart, Fast food, Uber, VISA & ($10 – $20) Gas Cards. Also, cash donations can greatly assist clients with needs like purchasing birth certificates and such.
Store gift cards provide us with a steady and secure way to purchase items needed by clients, while gas cards may help clients get to scheduled appointments with an advocate at Albion, a job interview, or a therapy appointment.
Year-Round Giving
General donations are accepted year-round and help ensure we are able to provide our clients with the resources they need.
Our current needs are:
- Women’s sweatpants size S – L
